What makes this knife so good?
1.Three layers of laminated steel.
Most bowie knives are made with one single piece of steel. High carbon steel will stay sharp for a long time, but it can be brittle and vulnerable to breaking.
Cold Steel puts a piece of VG-1 stainless steel in the middle. This steel is known for its edge retention and strength and is used for the cutting edge.
A piece of softer, more flexible 400 series stainless is then folded on each side of the VG-1 for the ULTIMATE compromise between sharpness and flexibility.
